The Project
- The latest in a long line of projects delivered for this Academy Trust. We were commissioned to construct a 2 classroom extension with external landscaping.
- The aim was to provide additional capacity at this burgeoning village primary school to allow them to take on increased student numbers.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
- School was live throughout the project which we had to proficiently plan works around to ensure minimal impact to the school/ that we were in tune with the school environment:
- Phased/ timed works so that the playing field was out of use when not needed and back in use for the summer.
- Timing of noisy works and deliveries around school occupation/ student and staff flows around site.
- PCI undertook assemblies and site visits with the school children to ensure they were aware of the works and outlined how they needed to behave around site.
- There was a memorial tree in the area close to planned construction works that we had to be careful working around to maintain.
The Works
- PCI Ltd undertook all works involved in this project – key features include:
- Construction of a flat roofed two classroom brick and block extension
- Heavy duty retaining wall constructed to hold back playing field mass from new extension
- Hard landscaping of external areas creating a nursery outside play area with canopy coverage
- All internal and external finishes and M+E.
